At Accell, Leon worked on a challenging project where he was responsible for the front-end development of a white label e-commerce webshop, specifically aimed at bicycles. This webshop includes major brands such as Sparta, Batavus, Raleigh and Ghost. Leon was partly responsible for ensuring that these brands can offer a seamless and user-friendly online shopping experience to their customers. An important part of the work at Accell was rolling out new brands in the webshop. One of the most recent additions was the Ghost brand. This presented several challenges as each brand had specific requests regarding adding new content blocks to their website - via Storyblok CMS. Leon created these content blocks based on Figma designs. He was then also responsible for seamless integration within both the front-end (Gatsby, with React) and within the CMS. After a full release cycle, including thorough QA testing, these blocks were successfully added to all brands. Another important aspect of the work at Accell was optimizing performance and reducing costs through code refactoring. An example of this was the large-scale refactor where Alfolio was replaced by Elastic Search. Given the large number of brands and pages on the webshop, and the required seamless migration of existing brands, this was a very complex task. Still, he managed to successfully switch to Elastic Search, resulting in significant performance improvements and cost savings for Accell.
